Japanese album 'Rated FT' and overseas activities and long-awaited comeback to Korea in September

The band continued their TAKE FTISLAND tour which started the year before in Seoul, Korea and went to Taiwan in December 2012 and continued the series in China. The band rocked at a January concert in Shanghai and in Beijing on April 13. It was reported that "F.T. Island members were all in their best possible condition and led the fans on an energetic musical journey for the evening." FTISLAND wrapped up the successful Asian tour at the Asia World Expo Hong Kong on August 17th, where they performed some of their self-written songs.

On March 27, F.T. Island released their single, "You Are My Life" with 2 tracks "Beat it" and "Come Into My Dreams." All 3 songs ended up in the top 5 of Japanese music site Dwango's K-Pop weekly ringtone chart. Also their MV for "You Are My Life" was reported to take "#1 on China's video site YinYueTai's Korea chart."

Interestingly, the band saw their 2009 album Jump Up, which was released 4 years prior, make an appearance on the Taiwanese music chart. It is reported that "according to Taiwanese music site Omusic, it managed to rank #1 on the Korea-Japanese Album Daily Broadcast Ranking for April 9. Additionally, the titled song "You're A Bad Girl" from 'Jump Up' also ranked #1 on the Song Daily Chart."

The group released their Japanese album Rated-FT in June 2013, with compositions from band members including "Time To" "Hold My Hand" "Black Chocolate" and "Orange Sky." The album landed at No.3 on Japan's Oricon Chart Daily Album on its release date.

F.T. Island released their 11th Japanese single "Theory Of Happiness" on July 24, 2013. It included 2 tracks composed by band members ,"Eyes On Me" and "Rainy Day." The song "Theory Of Happiness" was chosen as the ending theme music for the anime Toriko.

The band became "the only K-pop group to perform 3 years in a row on Fuji TV's 'Mezamashi Live'!" on July 28, 2013. F.T. Island also performed live at the highly regarded rock festival Summer Sonic 2013 in Tokyo on August 10 and in Osaka on August 11. This was FTISLAND's second time attending, the first time in 2010. They had the honor of being the final act of their stage and it is reported that "their passionate stage performance become an issue in the local, even ranking as No.1 at 'Summer Sonic Real Time Trend Words' beating Mr. Children and Metallica."

The band also completed their 1st Japan arena tour. The F.T. Island Arena Tour 2013 "Freedom" went to Miyagi, Shizouka, Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo, and Saitama for a total of 11 performances.

Finally, after 1 year, F.T. Island's long awaited comeback to Korea occurred in late September 2013. They released their member-composed mini-album 'Thanks To' on September 23, 2013, to reflect their thanks to all of the people who have supported them. The album included 4 song compositions contributed by members with the title track 'Memory' and song 'Always With you' by lead singer Lee Hong Ki, 'Try Again' by Choi Jung Hun, and 'Falling Star' by Lee Jae Jin. They gave a "heartfelt thanks to their fans" on their 6th anniversary during a successful 2 day concert in Seoul called FTHX combining the 1st initials of the band FT with THX (thanks). The live concert is said to "legtimate(s) their rock band status." It was also said that, "The setlist was mostly self-written and their all-time hits re-imagined."

A seemingly short promotional period their 'Thank To' mini-album, overlaps with their October Japan Zepp Tour, 'Replay'. "It begins October 1st in Tokyo, and will circuit through Sapporo, Hokkaido, Shizouka, Nanbe, and Nagoya.

The band made their official Korean comeback with their fifth mini album 'The Mood' on November 18, 2013. The title song on the album 'Madly' and its MV "have immediately found success by topping Mnet real-time music chart." The Korean mini-album "topped the weekly Hanteo chart" and Gaon chart. It also demonstrated overseas popularity by topping "HMV’s Asian album chart on its opening day of release" and took 1st places in "weekly booking ranking of HMV’s Korea-Asia chart." Self composed songs on the mini-album include 'Siren' by Lee Hong Ki, 'Can't Have You' by Choi Jong Hoon, and 'The Way Into You' by Lee Jae Jin.
